Nanaimo is a rather lawful place despite the large number of dimensional raiders. The dimensional nexus that Rifts earth has become serve well for the raiders. Ruled by Riicharcryth an older cousin of Splynn who grew disenchanted after a serious set back where his empire was attacked. Fighting a losing battle, he retreated a pocket dimension to recover with as much wealth and personnel. After some time to heal Riicharcryth mood changed he hated his fellow Spluggorth as he always had but the slavery and pain that he supported with them in his empire sicken him. He release his slave and ejected all other slave owners from his pocket dimension. Many of the slaves were given small amount of gold or silver and released to the Centre on Phase World. Several slave owners resisted and were killed. Some scouts found A small nexus on Vancouver Island that could make for a new base of operations. Rather than invade and take the land, settlement with the first nations of the island was settle for the harbour that made up the old city of Nanaimo. By 12 PA Nanaimo was set up as the new base for trading. By 49 PA it a black market dimensional raiders. Since much of the market comes through the gates in the main pyramid. Few visitors care about geography though some recognize they are on Rifts Earth. The market on can find nearly everything a person could want, one of them at least. The market is large but doesn't really compare with Splynn, The Centre or even Chioba. Still by human standards it is pretty amazing. There are no slaves, and slavery is banned.
